      Hi there – and welcome to my little corner of the internet. I am a true lover of life and as such I have always been passionate about finding out how to live the best and most “full” life possible.  I truly believe this is only achieved when we feel well and strike a balance in all the aspects of health; nutrition, movement, sleep & relaxation, community, nature, mindset and joy. 

My approach

      As a Qualified Nutritional Therapist, I approach clients with the same outset – to help you achieve optimal energy, motivation, zest for life and overall health.

Good nutrition is the core foundation that your health and wellbeing are built upon. Not only that – eating well now can ensure you live well as you age.

Food and nutrition for me are first and foremost about nourishment and enjoyment. Rather than restricting foods, I banish diets and instead focus on what you can add to your life, helping to nourish the body and mind to support the healing process and help you create a long-term healthy lifestyle. Through my extensive training, I know the importance of recognising each client as unique – there is no such thing as a perfect diet for humans – instead, we will work together to create an optimal nutrition plan bespoke to you and your health goals.    

Throughout my journey into the world of wellness, I have been astounded by the amount of information now available around health. Navigating through this can be an absolute minefield – especially as much of it isn’t true! I strongly believe in offering evidence-based nutritional advice, based heavily on current research,  the biochemistry of the human body and using the world’s natural resources. My approach is evidence-based but not evidence-limited.  The science of nutrition is constantly evolving and although my aim is to keep at the forefront of research, I also look to the past traditions and wisdom of wellness, including Naturopathy,  Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine to make some natural recommendations.

How do I work? 

    The systems that make up the human body do not work in isolation of each other, but rather as a complex integrated and interconnected network – so each one relies on and affects the others in some way. Therefore, using both a Naturopathy and Functional Medicine approach, I look at the body as a whole; addressing underlying root causes of ill health, rather than suppressing individual symptoms. Part of this requires understanding your own health story, therefore an initial consultation involves an in-depth look at your history,  general health, dietary habits, digestive function, and lifestyle.   As a former Primary School teacher, I am keen to use the Naturopathic principle of ‘therapist as educator’ – therefore part of our sessions will involve empowering you with factual health knowledge and demystifying the information overload out there.  

I am trained to understand the biochemistry of the human body and disease pathways and can use this to highlight any foods or habits that may be hindering the body’s innate healing process. I often use Functional Testing to help me to better understand the unique nutritional needs of my clients. Through suggesting specific nutrients to enhance specific biological pathways, we can address certain biochemical imbalances and improve overall health.   Together we can then devise a dietary and lifestyle plan suitable for your individual circumstances. This includes dietary adjustments,  lifestyle changes and in many cases, supplement recommendations.
