All that glitters….

My good friend Carla popped in for a cuppa not long ago and brought with her a really thoughtful gift. Now who doesn’t love a bottle of wine or a packet of hobnobs brought to your door… but this was something different entirely. Carla explained that she was never sure how best to comfort me when in need (I am a cold fish at times or a full on joker at others) , but explained that holding crystals always seemed to help her and hoped they would do the same for me. Now I’m not going to lie. For a long time I had banished crystals into the ‘not for me’ box. My mum had collected a few over the years and I was never quite sure of the point. But for some reason or another, when I was feeling in the need a few days after her visit, I grabbed one of Carla’s crystals, took a comfy pew, cleared my mind and low and behold felt more positive. Some may think it is a placebo but, so what if it is? The effect it had was indeed that of a positive one, so true cause or not, it did its job.

This made me think even deeper about the ‘science’ behind crystal healing and I found myself scrolling the internet on my phone before bed each night, becoming more and more interested in this sparkling world of stones. In short, crystals are seen as energy transmitters – the structure under which they are formed over millions of years creates a specific pattern which, in turn, indicates they can absorb and transmit electromagnetic energies. Another favourite quote of mine is ‘We are all made from stardust’ – if we are indeed all made of the same matter, we are connected to nature in other ways too.

Still unsure, I signed myself up for a Crystal Healing session (at Revitilise in Hove). It is one of those places you instantly feel relaxed in, with the aroma of essential oils and whole foods on display. They lady who took me for my healing was just gorgeous. I imagine if I could sense auras, hers would have looked like something a unicorn threw up. The session was an hour long and I lay in bliss, covered by a blanket and gemstones. Again, whatever the reasoning behind it, the result was instantly positive and I’ve been a fan since.

One shiny step closer to finding that balance… Thanks Carla!
