What is Nutritional Therapy?

The human body is incredible. It can survive on very little, but to thrive it needs the right tools and building blocks. We shouldn’t be aiming to only survive life – battling symptoms of diseases, chronic health conditions or pain, but instead optimizing our personal health so we can get the most out of living.

Nutritional therapy is based on the scientific principle that foods in their most natural state provide the nutrients needed for the body to repair and heal and help us to reach an optimum state of vitality. It’s about providing your body with the right mix and balance of nutrients to perform at its best, whatever your goals are.

Often people come to me finding something is ‘out of balance’ within their body, resulting in low energy, illness, disease or poor overall health.

As a Nutritional Therapist, I use evidence-based research to make my recommendations. My approach encompasses the functional medicine model. This model focuses on identifying problems with your body’s systems that may be contributing to symptoms of ill-health and disease.

During the initial consultation, we can discuss your health history and provide personalized nutrition advice and a ‘take-home’ plan. On top of this, I may make comprehensive lifestyle recommendations and conduct blood, urine or stool tests where applicable and necessary.

Bringing the body into balance is key to nutritional therapy – this may mean adding in more of what it needs or removing what it doesn’t. This is highly specific and personal for each individual based upon your health history, genetics, current lifestyle and relationship with food. Therefore a bespoke plan is made for each client at each consultation.
